Goal Setting

- Agree on goals
- See what good behavior looks like
- Write out each goals on single sheet of paper less than 250 words
- Read and re-read goals often
- Take a minute each day to reflect on performance
- See if behavior matches goals
Praisings
- "People who feel good about themselves produce good results"
- Tell people up-front that you're going to let them know how they're doing
- Praise people immediately
- Tell them what they did right - be specific
- Tell them about how you feel good when they did something right, and how it helps the organization and others who work there
- Give moment of silence to let feelings be felt
- Encourage to do more of the same
Reprimand
- Tell people up-front that you're going to let them know how they're doing
- First half:
- Reprimand people immediately
- Tell them what they did wrong - be specific
- Tell them about how you feel when they did something wrong
- Give moment of silence to let feelings be felt
- Second half:
- Shake hands
- Remind them how much you value them
- Reaffirm that you think of well of them, just not of their performance in this situation
- When the reprimand is over, it's over.
