Molecules -> Atoms

Atoms -> Protons, Neutrons, Electrons

Protons -> 3 quarks, 1 of each color, 2 up and 1 down.

Neutrons -> 3 quarks, 1 of each color, 1 up and 2 down.

Electrons -> Smallest, no quarks.

Up Quark = 2/3 + charge.

Down Quark = 1/3 - charge.

Proton = 2/3 + 2/3 - 1/3 = 3/3 = 1+ positive.

Neutron = 2/3 - 1/3 - 1/3 = 0, no charge.

6 "Flavors" of quarks:

  • up 2/3+
  • down 1/3-
  • strange
  • charmed
  • bottom
  • top

Quark "colors" (quarks smaller than wavelength of light, so not a real color):

  • red
  • blue
  • green

Particle/wave duality - (light, gravity, etc.)
